[DISCUSSION] Should they implement a private rating system for sellers to privately rate buyers?
Imo it would be nice if they had a private rating for us to rate buyers. I think sellers can be afraid to leave a bad public review.
Like, I've had many buyers I should have left a 3-star or even 1-star, but I did wanna keep working with them because the $$ was good or something, or, I was just afraid they would get mad and try to cancel their order after seeing my review. (Which could be likely unfortunately.) Like, we are the ones trying to make a living, it isn't necessarily in our best interest to leave a bad public review unless we are dead set on burning that bridge.
Every time I see that a prospective buyer who wants to work with me was given a 1-star, I tend to take it VERY seriously, because I know that sellers who do that are sticking their neck out, in order to warn their fellow sellers.
Conversely, I've seen sellers give buyers 4/5 stars when the buyer seems pretty crap ("they were asking for more work but didn't want to pay for extras"), and you get the sense that they would've rated lower if they felt comfortable.
A LOT of sellers are likely rating rude or demanding buyers highly, because we want to continue making $$; we're new to the platform so have even less leverage; or are afraid of some form of backlash.
And, I know and understand why Fiverr doesn't like to piss off their buyers, so I'm not saying that low ratings should have any consequences for them. It would just be a Secret Seller Network and a way of telling each other, "Yeah, that guy is kind of a dick."
(There is a precedent for this system – it's what Uber does. Both drivers and riders rate each other, and riders can't directly see which driver gave them a bad rating.)
