I have a few questions as a centrist PC

Hi there. I have a few questions for you guys as a PC As a (right leaning) centrist and PC. My questions are regarding stuff like exceptions for rape and when the mother's health is at risk. I'd also like to share my opinions and also listen to others.

Background info on my beliefs as a PC:

I'm PC when it comes to cases of rape, financial instability and have no access to healthcare. But I do agree with PL views such as how people should be responsible for their actions, when it's consensual, how abortions are dangerous and a traumatic experience, and how life begins at conceptions etc.

I also believe that abortion should be legal for the exceptional cases as long as the baby is still only like a few weeks old. I dont support late abortions as a PC.

I live in a 3rd world country and I hold PC views due to the situations here. My beliefs are based solely on the location and their respective situations. I have no idea about the situations in the US but I'd still like to ask my questions here and find answers to broaden my mind and opinions.

Most of the questions and opinions are related to pregnancies as a result of rape, if these topics make you uncomfortable. Please ignore the post.

But if you choose to answer my questions, and share your own opinions, please do so in a civil, non biased way. Please don't bring religious beliefs into this matter and cite credible sources for any statistical data (if provided).

Here are the questions:

1. What's the general view on pregnancies that result from rape?

I hold different views on it depending on the age, location, accessibility and family situations of the victim. I personally believe exceptions should be made for these cases, especially when rape victim is a minor, or has no access to proper healthcare, or has no financial stability.

In my belief, a minor rape victim shouldnt be forced to carry the child and also potentially ruin a part of her life in carrying the baby.

Of course, the baby is innocent. It's the rapist who's at fault and deserves the punishment, and the baby shouldn't have to die but what about the minor's physical and mental health in this case?

A minor's body is still developing and hasn't matured enough to handle pregnancies well and this might take a toll on her body and mental health. So why are these cases not an exception?

2. If the mother's health is in danger due to the pregnancy, like she could die while giving birth due to complications, or has a pregnancy occuring in another part of her system (like in some cases, the fallopian tubes), are these cases an exception?

I believe it should be an exception because if a pregnancy has to be carried out successfully, both the mother and child should be safe and healthy and be given enough medical care. It just isn't worth risking the mother's life for the birth of a baby IMO.

3. There are many women out there who don't want children for various reasons. If such a person gets impregnated through rape, then what should they do instead of getting an abortion?

I know most people in this case would say the victim should carry the pregnancy to it's full term, and give the baby away for adoption or foster care but in most countries, I dont think foster care systems or adoption systems are very good or properly regulated to ensure the child's protection. Lots of children are traumatised through such systems.

In those cases, wouldn't it be better to abort the baby instead of bringing it into a world where it may not be treated well and make it susceptible to a horrible life?

4. There are rare cases where married women or women in relationships get raped. In such cases, if they are impregnated by another man's child, what would you say the victim as well as her partner do?

5. Whats your opinion on the fact that cases of illegal and unsafe abortions, forced miscarriages etc will most likely increase with the ban of legal abortions?

6. Since you're PL, would you agree to the following, even if a part of your tax money was used to fund these?

• How physical and mental healthcare should be free or at least cheaper to better take care of mothers and their babies?

• Do you support the idea of governments or NGOs financially supporting impregnated victims to raise the baby?

• Are you also of the opinion that our justice system should be better and improved in punishing criminals?

I personally think, if we want a global society that's mostly free of abortions, we need a better physical and mental healthcare system to support pregnant rape victims, especially in cases when they are a minor and were heavily traumatised by their experience(s). They should also recieve financial support in case they are financially unstable and society as a whole needs a better justice system to punish abusers.

7. In your opinion, what are some other methods women could opt for instead of aborting their baby if they're pregnant through rape or got pregnant despite using contraceptive measures or got pregnant consensually but don't want the baby?

For example, I personally think cyropreservation of embryos and embryo donation is a great way to preserve life and also is a great option for people who don't want to be pregnant. While of course, there are many processes involved in this, its still a really good choice and I personally think it's better than putting the child up for adoption or in the foster care system.

8. Do you guys support the rapists in any case? If not then what sorts of punishment do you believe they desrve?

I personally dont support them and wish they'd get harsher punishments, even the death penalty.

That was it for my questions. Thank you! If anyone wants me to cite any sources, please ask and I'll be happy to do so. You may ask me questions as well.
